Panasonic Lumix S lens and camera lineup 2023

The new S5II and S5IIx  join LUMIX's S range of full-frame mirrorless cameras and lenses, which has grown impressively since they entered the full-frame mirrorless market a few years back, competing with the likes of Sony, Canon and Nikon. Following on from the successful Lumix S5, which was aimed at content creators, the S5II promises to fix and improve upon this first model. Panasonic say that they've listened to feedback from users and addressed all of the key concerns. They certainly seem to have ticked those, previously empty, boxes.

Just some of the improvements include improved AF, thanks to a new-to-Panasonic LUMIX, Hybrid Phase Detection Auto-Focus, as well as creator favourites like Waveform and Zebras for video recording. Perhaps one of the most noticeable changes is the shape of the body, thanks to impressive, yet discreet, cooling fans in the pentaprism-styled viewfinder section. This sucks air in through the front and expels hot air through the sides - it's one of the neatest, yet functional fan systems we've seen to date. When you compare it to the fan on the Canon R5C and the additional fan option for th Fujifilm X-H2S, you can really appreciate just how subtle, yet effective this design choice is.

We're going to put a video out featuring the LUMIX S5II once we've been able to thoroughly test it, so make sure you're signed up to our YouTube channel! For now, take a look at all the key specifications for the two models and find out how the Lumix S5IIX differs frm the S5II.
